Leilão Bidspirit | Manila shawl c. 1890
Manila shawl c. 1890 - Manila shawl (Philippines). This type of shawl was made in China. They arrived in Spain by ship from Manila, hence its name. It is a short shawl made of natural silk, lasso thread and embroidery, all in off-white. Decorated with flowers and plant motifs. Macramé fringe in the same shade. The original frill on the back, like a cape, with fringes and decoration to match the rest of the shawl, gives this piece its originality. Its shape is reminiscent of a bullfighting cape. Well preserved. A small antique stain does not affect the whole. Measurements: 67 x 133 cm (measurements without fringes). The fringe falls 34 cm.
