Partitura original com dedicatória pelo punho de Joaquim José de Paiva (1832 — 1901), que foi regente da Filarmónica Bracarense, mais tarde conhecida como «Bandas dos Paivas», durante mais de três décadas. Aparentemente, havia uma grande rivalidade entre esta banda e a banda do Regimento de Infantaria 8.
A sua viúva fez publicar um anúncio no jornal em 1902, para venda do espólio musical deixado por este compositor, constituído por cerca de 400 obras, o que poderá ser indício da proveniência desta peça (cf. Lessa, 2019).
Curiosamente, o autor refere-se à peça, por duas vezes, como «mazulca», não se sabendo se por confusão com a dança polaca «mazurca» [mazurek], se propositadamente.
Razoável estado geral de conservação. Rasgo no canto inferior esquerdo; muito pequena perda de suporte no oposto; manchas ténues de humidade. Notação bem legível.
