Antique Engraving Hertford College Oxford University George Vertue Original antique engraving by an English engraver and antiquary George Vertue (1684-1756) of Hertford College depicting the college building with an ornate floral frame with the motto Sicut cervus anhelat ad fontes aquarum - As the hart panteth after the water brooks. Horizontal. Hertford College, previously known as Magdalen Hall, is a constituent college of the University of Oxford in England. It is located on Catte Street in the centre of Oxford, directly opposite the main gate to the Bodleian Library. The college is known for its iconic bridge, the Bridge of Sighs. Fair condition, creasing, tears, paper losses on edges, fold, staining, backed on card. Country of issue: UK, designer: George Vertue, size (cm): 36x47, year of printing: 1740s.
