A JAPANESE NETSUKE OKIMONO OF JUROJIN, 19TH C.
A hand carved okimono of Jurojin, the god of longevity and immortality. He is one of the seven gods of happiness. Most often, Dzurodzin is portrayed with attributes that indicate a wish for a long and happy life. This figurine holds a casket with an elixir or a peach of eternal life. In his hands, Dzurodzin usually holds a staff in which a scroll containing the entire wisdom of the world is threaded.
