A RARE TRADITIONAL TIBETIAN GEM-SET CHUNG JUG
The jug is covered with auspicious symbols and set with four corals and turquoise mounted in brass. The spout and handle are made of hammered brass. The body is of copper, the mounts are repousse brass. This large jug is typical of those used to serve barley beer or "chang" in Tibet. The presence of decorative brass straps may indicate that the maker was copying earlier metal-bound wooden vessels.19th century.
