RARE ANTIQUE THREE PAINTED CABINET PHOTO CARDS
A lot of three Giorgio Conrad Napoli hand painted cartes de visite perhaps the most ubiquitous form of nineteenth-century photography. The 3 cabinet portrait photo cards are depicting male and female figures of locals in traditional picturesque costumes. From the late 1850s through the latter half of the century, these economical keepsakes circulated en masse and spurred a veritable “cartomania.” Photographer: Giorgio Conrad, Italy 1827 to 1889. All photos are numbered in the print, 183, 164, 273, lower left. All cards are stamped on the back. Circa 1860s to 1870s. Works from this artist are part of the collection of the MET Museum in New York. Highly collectible items. Cabinet of Oddities and Rarities.
