ANTIQUE WWII RUSSIAN UKRAINIAN PROPAGANDA POSTER
An antique lithograph military poster depicting Myron Tarnavsky, 1869 to 1938, a supreme commander of the Ukrainian Galician Army, the military of the West Ukrainian People's Republic. Tarnavsky oversaw the Galician offensive in Kiev. His army was decimated by a typhus epidemic and he arranged an armistice with the forces of Anton Denikin. The print was made after the painting by Edward Kozak, 1902 to 1992. Signed lower right. Edward Kozak was a painter, caricaturist, illustrator, film animator, graphic artist, and writer. Served in the ranks of the Ukrainian Galician Army. Studied at the Lviv Studio School of O. Novakivsky, and worked for Lviv-based satirical and humor magazines. In 1944, emigrated to Germany, where he began publishing his own satirical-humor magazine Lys. Moved to the United States in 1951. Antique Ukrainian Historical Military Posters.
Dimensions: Frame 18 3/4 x 26 in. All measurements are approximate.
