ANTIQUE EMBROIDERED CAPE CHASUBLE PRIEST CLOTHES
An antique, probably Roman, Baroque Catholic Church ecclesiastical priest clothes including a cape, and a chasuble, probably used for Easter. Cream and gold silk damask, adorned with embroidered floral and scrollwork patterns. The chasuble is adorned with an embroidered image of a cross on the backside. The cape is decorated with a fringe. Circa: 18th century. Provenance: Christies Auction. The chasuble is the outermost liturgical vestment worn by clergy for the celebration of the Eucharist in Western tradition Christian churches that use full vestments, primarily in Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran churches.
