A WWII Nazi German silver-tone cigarette case with a hinged lid and a holder inside. The lid is decorated with embossed floral ornaments. The backside is hand-engraved and depicts an eagle with a swastika flying over a burning town on the river, inscriptions 1942, Stalingrad, Wolga. The Battle of Stalingrad was a major battle on the Eastern Front of World War II which took place in Southern Russia from August 1942 to February 1943. It was the deadliest battle of the Second World War and is one of the bloodiest battles in the history of warfare.
