BRITISH PORTRAIT LITHOGRAPH AFTER GEORGE ROMNEY
A vintage lithograph print on hard cardboard after the original oil painting on canvas, Miss Juliana Willoughby portrait, circa 1781 to 1783 by George Romney, 1734 to 1802. Unsigned. Framed. A gold tone plate showing the title and the name of the artist on the front og the frame. Miss Willoughby is a daughter of Sir Christopher Willoughby. Juliana stands as seriously and with as much poise as a great lady or a figure from classical sculpture. she is posed with the tilted head of a Raphael Madonna. George Romney, 1734 to 1802, a British fashionable portrait painter of late 18th century English society. In his portraits Romney avoided delving into the character or sensibilities of the sitter. His great success with his society patrons depended largely on just this ability for dispassionate flattery. Line rather than colour dominates; the flowing rhythms and easy poses of Roman classical sculpture underlie the smooth patterns of his compositions. Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
Dimensions: Framed 25 x 21 in. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Overall good vintage condition. Signs of wear and Age. Refer to photos. Sold as is.
