ANCIENT PAKISTAN GANDHARA STONE BUDDHA STATUE
An ancient Pakistan Gandhara stone carved statue of Buddha, an example of the Gandharan art, which emerged in the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent during the 1st century AD and flourished until the 6th century AD. The serene and introspective expression on Buddhas face is finely captured, and the intricately carved details of his robe and hairstyle are a testament to the skill of the Gandharan artisans. Dates to the 5th century AD. Gandhara was an ancient Indo Aryan civilization centered in the present day north west Pakistan and including parts of south east Afghanistan, roughly at the outskirts of northwestern Indian subcontinent.
