RUSSIAN TRAVEL ICON THREE SAINTS IN SILVER OKLAD
An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon of Guriy, Samon and Aviv, Orthodox martyrs who lived in Edessa in the 3rd century AD. Travel icon of miniature size. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Gilt silver riza or oklad with repousse decor. The characters are named in Church Slavonic on the bottom of the riza. Hallmark of 84 silver standard and makers marks are on the side of the riza. The backside of the icon is covered with red velvet. Russian Christian Religious Items and Collectibles.
