A pair of antique hand colored etchings with aquatint on paper after William Adolphus Knell, British, 1805 to 1875. The first: His View of Her Majestys Steam Frigate Cyclops, Off Spithead, Under Admiralty Orders is with permission dedicated to Sir Wm. Symonds, Surveyor of the Navy, by His Obedient and Humble Servants, Ackerman and Co; published by Ackerman and Company, 1875; signed in the plate, H. Papprill Sculpt, lower right, titled and inscribed in the plate, lower to the center. The second: This View of H. M. Steam Frigate Geyser, when off Mt. Edgecombe, Is with his permission, dedicated to Sir John Barrow. Bart. Secretary of the; published by Ackerman and Company, 1856; signed in the plate, C. Hunt Sculpt, lower right, titled and inscribed in the plate, lower to the center. William Adolphus Knell was a successful British maritime painter of the 19th century. Henry A. Papprill, 1816 to 1903, was a British engraver. Noted as an aquatint engraver from 1840. His plates were published from 1840 till 1883 mainly by Ackermann of the Strand. Both are framed.
