Attributed to Mark Rothko, Russian, American, 1903 to 1970, oil painting on hard linen depicting a coastal scene with boats. Inscribed in pencil, Rothko, on the backside. An old sticker mentioning Mark Rothko, on the backside.T he beach scene could take place at Lake George with the hills in the background, a place where Mark Rothko was living. Framed. Mark Rothko was a Russian born American abstract painter. He is best known for his color field paintings that depicted irregular and painterly rectangular regions of color, which he produced from 1949 to 1970. One of a kind artwork.
