RUSSIAN SOVIET ERA PAINTING BY GELIY KORZHEV 1962
Geliy Korzhev, an oil painting on canvas titled The Stopping, 1962. The artwork depicts a woman with a child in her arms near a truck, from under which a man doing repairs is partially visible. Signed in Cyrillic lower left. On the reverse side of the painting there is also the name of the artist and the title of the artwork. Geliy Mikhailovich Korzhev, 1925 to 2012, Soviet, Russian artist, painter, teacher. Representative of the Severe Style. In his paintings, sharp in composition and restrained in color, with highlighted close ups, carefully modeled figures, the artist addresses large universal themes, showing people in dramatic, heroic and everyday situations.
