MID CENTURY CHINESE SANYU FEMALE PORTRAIT PAINTING
Sanyu, or Chang Yu, Chinese French, 1901 to 1966, an oil painting on board depicting a female portrait. Signed by the artist lower right. Matted and framed. Sanyu first attended the Shanghai Art Academy, and went to Japan in 1919. The following year, he went to France among Chinas very first batch of oversea students under the sponsorship of the Chinese government. After he finished school, Sanyu remained in Paris, where he engaged in figure drawing at the Grande Chaumiere. Mid Century Chinese Paintings And Art Collectibles.
