Emil Soren Emil Carlsen, Danish, American, 1848 or 53 to 1932, an antique oil on board painting depicting a Seascape. Housed in a richly ornate gilt wood and gesso frame with a metal name plate below. Soren Emil Carlsen is an American artist of Danish origin, one of the outstanding American artists of the 20th century. During his long career, he won many of the most prestigious awards in American art and was elected to the National Academy of Design. He is known for Still life, sea landscape and figure painting.
