An Antique Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Bowl
An Antique 19th Century Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Footed Bowl with Provenance. Featuring a rooster and floral design and gilded rim, on a blue-footed base. The interior of the bowl is a beautiful turquoise. Underside with red underglaze TONGZHI mark under the base. Ca. Qing Dynasty, 19th. Century. Size h 4 1/2 X d 2 1/2. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
