EGYPTIAN NEW KINGDOM COBALT BLUE PAINTED JAR DEPICTING BIRDS AND PLANTS
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC.
An Egyptian jar from the New Kingdom, possibly from the Amarna period. The jar is adorned with cobalt blue paint and has a globular body. The shoulders are decorated with a scene of the Nile river, with birds and papyrus plants in the main register. The narrow neck is adorned with lotiform and geometrical decorations in blue and red and connected to a short, everted rim. For similar see: MET Museum Accession Number: 11.215.462. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
Size: 530mm x 350mm; Weight: 10kg
Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014, acquired in 2004 from a UK private collection formed in the 1970s to 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
