SUMERIAN RECTANGULAR CLAY CUNEIFORM TABLET
Ca. 2500 - 2000 BCA Mesopotamian rectangular clay tablet with rounded corners covered by Sumerian cuneiform inscriptions. Carved on the reverse with cuneiform script, this type of tablet generally features economic counts and a list of goods. Cuneiform tablets are generally considered the earliest form of written communication in ancient societies. The tablets were made of clay, which was easy to mould and did not require baking. They were simply left to dry under the warm sun of the region.
