KHORASAN COPPER ALLOY STEMMED FOOT DISH
Ca. AD 1200 - 1301A Khorasan bronze stemmed foot dish with flared rim. The rim is engraved with a band of inscription-filled cartouches interspaced by roundels containing floral motifs surrounded by petals. One cartouche has a Thuluth inscription and vegetal motif surrounded by an undulating vine. The remaining cartouches have inscriptions in Kufic on a ground of scrolling vines terminating in trefoil palmettes.Size: 140mm x 300mm; Weight: 900gProvenance: Property of a London Islamic art specialist collector; previously in a collection formed since the 1980s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
