LATE ROMAN BRONZE RING WITH BETHLEHEM STAR
Ca. AD 300 - 600.A late Roman or early Byzantine bronze ring. The ring has a round hoop that smoothly transitions into a flat section. The sub-circular bezel is adorned with an engraving of a five-pointed star framed with dots. The five-pointed star holds significant meaning in different cultures and beliefs. In Christian iconography, it is referred to as the Star of Bethlehem, the star that guided the Magi to the location of Jesus's birth. In medieval European folklore, the five-pointed star known as a pentagram was believed to possess protective powers against evil spirits and malevolent forces.
