THREE ROMAN LEGIONARY BRONZE OPEN-WORK APPLIQUES
Ca. AD 100 - 300.A group of three Roman bronze open-work legionary appliques. The first one on the left, has a square shape and is adorned with phytomorphic and open-work geometric motifs. It features five small symmetric holes, most used to attach the decoration to a piece of furniture. The second has a round body with an open-work swastika in the centre. It is framed in a circular line that resembles a rope. The third consists of two surmounted types of leaves.Size: 27-45mm x 31-44mm; Weight: 30gProvenance: Property of London gallery, acquired on the Austrian art market.
