ABBASID BRONZE PERFUME BOTTLE
Ca. AD 900.A bronze bottle with an apple-shaped body, resting on a tall, flaring foot. The neck of the flask gracefully extends from the body, adorned around its upper part with an interlocking band. The funnel-shaped spout leads to a mouth decorated with a horizontal register of protruding knobs. The flat shoulder of the bottle is inscribed with text, while the main body is embellished with decorative roundels and a tendril band. The foot is inscribed with additional text, framed by wave-pattern bands.Size: L:125mm / W:80mm ; 210gProvenance: Private UK collection; from an old London collection formed in the 1990s.
