PAIR OF QAJAR SILVER DISHES
Ca. Early 19th century AD. A pair of silver dishes. One is decorated with an interior court scene with a seated Prince and a servant in two niches surrounded by numerous adult courtiers with children and musicians, and a peacock perched upon a zoomorphic bench, with a decorative outer band of floral panels with eight feline masks. The second with an outdoor pastoral scene with four horsemen and seven standing figures, accompanied by seven hunting dogs and one seated shepherd with two sheep, with a decorative outer band of floral arabesque. Size: 26cm diameter; Weight: 782g Provenance: Previous property of an Islamic art professional. Previously aquired from Reza Attigechi, Tehran, 1978. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
