SUPERB EGYPTIAN STONE VESSEL
12th - 19th Dynasty, Ca. 1938 - 1190 BC. A small stone vessel with a rounded body that narrows towards a short, flat base. A wide, flat rim is covered with a thin gold sheet featuring a central perforation. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.For similar see: Lilyquist C. and Brill R. H., Studies in Early Egyptian Glass, fig. 10.Size: 25mm x 30mm; Weight: 26.15gProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Sotheby's, 5 Jun 2013, lot 58; Ex. Egyptian family collection, Alexandria and Cairo, acquired in the early part of the 20th century in Egypt and Europe, and transferred from Egypt to Northern European family residences in the early 1950s; Northern European private collection, by direct descent from the above in the 1970s, acquired from the above by the present owner in 2002. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
