A GOLD SELJUK OPENWORK EARRING DEPICTING A CAT
Ca. 11th - 13th century AD . A hollow-cast cat-shaped earring with a body worked in intricate granulation and a head finely detailed with prominent circular eyes, pointed ears, and a raised ridge along the snout. The back features a curved suspension loop, while the underside is fitted with three hanging chains adorned with delicate filigree and repoussé elements, including stylised floral and geometric motifs. The chains terminate in decorative charms, one in the form of a pyramidal weight with incised detailing.Size: 75mm x 25mm; Weight: 10gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
