A LARGE FRAMED CALLIGRAPHIC COMPOSITION
Ca. 20th century AD. A large calligraphic panel of rectangular form inscribed in bold gold Thuluth script against a black background. The inscription, meticulously executed, reads: "Inna fatahna laka fathan mubeena", which translates to "Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory", a verse from the Quran (Surah Al-Fath 48:1). Delicate diacritical embellishments and decorative flourishes in gold surround the central script, enhancing its visual impact. The calligraphy is signed by the artist in the lower left corner, and the date 1428 AH is inscribed in numerals beneath the text. Framed within a double-matted border with gold detailing, the artwork is enclosed in a dark wooden frame, complementing the richness of the calligraphy. The craftsmanship and choice of colours reflect a refined contemporary Islamic artistic tradition influenced by the grand heritage of classical Ottoman and Persian calligraphy.Size: 540mm x 345mm; Weight: 1.49kgProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
