GREEK BLACK GLAZE HYDRIA WITH RIBBED BODY
Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A large hydria with an ovoid, ribbed body rising from a flared foot. Three handles are attached at the shoulder and neck. The surface is coated in a deep black glaze, with the rim decorated with a band of ovolo. The ribs run vertically across the body, terminating just above the foot.For similar see: British Museum, Museum number1854,0227.1Size: 370mm x 260mm; Weight: 2.86kgProvenance: Private collection, Sussex, UK, acquired prior to 1956.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
