The Holy Gaon Rebbe Ya’akov Yechezkiah Grunwald was the Av Beit Din of Zelem and Pápa. Son and close disciple of Rabbi Moshe Greenwald author of Arugot HaBosem Av Beit Din of Chust.and the progenitor of the Pupa Chassidic dynasty. He served as rabbi in Tzehlem before being appointed to Pápa, Hungary, where he established an important yeshiva (which also had very close ties to Belz). He was succeeded by his son Rebbe Yosef Greenwald (the Vayechi Yosef, 1903-84) as the charismatic leader of all Pupa Chasidim.
