1914 L. Garrison Gettysburg Battlefield Map w/Prov
Map of the battlefield of Gettysburg from the original surveys by the engineers of the commission. The bottom of the map is dated 1914 by authority of the Secretary of War, Hon Lindley M. Garrison under the direction the Gettysburg National Park Commission. Lt. Col. John P. Nicholson, Chairman Major Charles A. Richardson, Lot. Col. E. B. Cope Engineer. Drawn by S. A. Hammond, Assistant Engineer. LR is denoted as Property of Edward A. Culp. Map depicts battlefield of Gettysburg with fence, roads, and walls. Provenance: 1 of 2 maps. The other was used for the Electronic Map at Gettysburg. Given to Culp, who was a child during the Civil war, and later was a tour guide. He gave it to his heir, E. D. Culp. The map is matted and framed to 59" x 42" OD. Has some discoloration due to age, wrinkles from use, and a water stain in LL corner. Overall good condition for age.
