Ali Al Jabiri (Iraq, 1948 - Rome 2018)Untitled, 1990Oil on canvas 70 X 49.5 cm - Ali Al Jabiri was born in Amara (Iraq) in 1948. He studied fine arts in Baghdad before moving to Italy in 1970, where he continued his training in sculpture and decorative arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Over the course of his career, he has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions both in Iraq and abroad and his fame was enhanced by his participation in the Iraqi pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1976, 1988 and 1990. The artist also created a series of large monuments that can still be found today in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.The subject of this painting is a family of three people, drawn with angular contours and earthy colours on a monochrome background. Signed at the bottom and at the rear of the canvas. The authenticity is confirmed by the artist's heirs.
