French gold and tortoiseshell snuff box - early 19th century of circular shape made entirely of tortoiseshell (hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, Cheloniidae) with gold appliqués; lid embellished with a painted miniature depicting a game scene with ladies and cupids. Hallmarked with the French marks in use at the beginning of the 19th century. Dimensions: 6 x 2.5 cm. Weight: 47.9 g. Item condition grading: ***** excellent.
