Brief description of the world of Zaccaria Lilio from Vicenza.
His most successful work, in the field of cosmographic science, is the Orbis Breviarium, a study of the Earth based on the description of individual cities, mentioned in alphabetical order. The Orbis is not presented as an original work, but as a systematic collection of what had already been studied and written by the ancients and by professional cosmographers and is also poorly updated, as the author does not mention the progress of studies on the Earth and not even to the great geographical discoveries of his time. The treatise, which saw the light in Florence in 1493, achieved considerable success, attested by the fact that it was republished three more times in the space of a few years - in Naples in 1496, in Venice around 1505 and again in Venice in 1540.
