Oil on canvas by Albert Huie, untitled portrait of Dorrell (1942, Jamaica)
Never before brought to the market, an important and exceptional portrait of a 16 year old boy called Dorrell by the then 21 year old "Father of Jamaican Art", still in its original frame, full of vibrant colour and texture. Consigned to Chard Auctions by the daughter of Alfred John Buckley, a clergyman who had moved to Jamaica in 1938 and adopted the sitter. Along with this painting is a short handwritten letter form Mr Buckley's daughter detailing a few fond memories.
