2 Page handwritten Letter dated 8th January 1976 Signed Air Cdre Sir V. S. Brown WW1 Test Pilot Instructor 1915/1916 at CFS Upavon 1915. One of the few British Pilots to fly the triplane Nieport 17s. In 1916 he became Flight Commander, Experimental Station, Orfordness where he was involved in tests with machine guns and fighter tactics. In 1937 after retiring, he became Chief Inspector of Accidents. One of the major problems he solved during WW2 was why many Stirling aircraft were lost after they had entered dives.
