Set of four prints (engraved and etched), commonly known by the generic title of "Lisbon as before the late earthquake", with the following subscription (common to all): Drawn by C. Lempriere, Revis'd & Painted by R. Paton. London Publish'd accordg. to Act of Parlt. 29th. of Novr. 1756. by G. Hawkins (at Temple Barr) Bookseller to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales. Engraved by J. Mason (P. Fourdrinier, Ant. J. Walker e P. C. Canot). Panoramic view of riverside Lisbon, before the 1755 earthquake, from Belém Tower to Terreiro do Paço. The four slightly manipulated engravings retain the lower margin with the captions, but have the remaining margins trimmed by the image. Belém engraving with minor imperfections. Alcântara engraving with some support failure affecting the engraved image.
