Friar Diogo de São Miguel (1505-1576), hermit of Saint Augustine, was born in Castelo Branco and died in Penafirme; He was rector of his order's college in Coimbra and twice elected provincial. Includes the following information on the title page: Vendese á porta da See, em casa de Christouam lopez Liureyro, a dous tostões em papel. On the verso of the last sheet, the printer's mark. Copy slightly cropped, with restorations and stains, on the first eight pages (rarely affecting the printed part). Casa de Azevedo stamp on the first page of the text (lot nº 3096 from the auction held in 1921-1922, acquired for 1,000 Rs. by Victor Perez). Ex-libris by Victor d’Avila Perez (lot nº 7070 from the auction held in 1940). Inocêncio (II, p. 166) informs: It is a very rare book of which I only saw a copy at Bib. National. Binding from the 19th century, fully sheepskin, (with label from the Porto binder A. M. F.
