Henri Leopold Masson (1907 - 1996) Pastel, Signed & Titled "First Snow, Vanier" Measures ( 18 x 24 inches ) w/frame ( 26.5 x 32,5 inches ) “Noted Ottawa Artist Visits Daughter Here… Lompoc Valley’s softly folded hills, its brown and greens slashed with brilliant color, are fantastically beautiful, is the opinion of Canada’s No. 1 artist, Henri Masson. Mr. Masson has been in the Valley about three weeks, has sketched many scenes for future water colors, thinks the climate is fine, except the fog.… With Mrs. Masson, the artist arrived in Lompoc about the middle of August to visit their daughter Mrs. Nick Obermire of 226 South D street and welcome their first grandchild, Nicky, born August 26. The visit has also been occasion for many family gatherings.… The early part of the current week they spent in visiting Huntington and other Art Galleries in the Los Angeles area. They expect to leave September 17 for their home in Ottawa, Canada.
