A PHOENICIAN CARNELIAN SCARAB SEAL
6th-4th century BCE. 16.8x12.5x8.3 mm. Perforated lengthwise. The iconography depicts a highly sophisticated composite portrait of a Semite male head bearing a helmet made of the head of an eagle, its beard is made of a falcon, its curls are made of a lion's forepart and its neck is made by the legs of the lion and the falcon.
