Rare edition, illustrated with a total of 52 engravings, of this travel diary published for the first time in a short version by the author's son. Monoconys was a French traveler, diplomat and magistrate. His travels took place from 1628 to 1664. The work is divided as follows: v.1: Portugal, Italy and Egypt; V.2, p.1: Syria, Constantinople and Asia Minor; v.2, p.2: England and the Netherlands; v.3: Germany and Italy; v. 4: Monconys' last voyage to Spain and a long letter written by him from Constantinople in 1648 about the bearing of Sultan Ibrahin and other letters between the author and his friends, as well as some treatises on poetry, chemistry, recipes, etc. Rare.
