Prof. Martim de Albuquerque, in his introduction to the facsimile edition, says: “In the pages that the reader will go through, the text and the image depict a vanished society, in its habits, in its types, in its picturesqueness. Time it was. People who passed. From all over the country: from Lisbon, as well as from the surrounding saloia area; from Coimbra; from Alentejo; from Ovar; das Caldas...
