FIRST EDITION of this translation into Congolese of one of the most important catechisms published at the beginning of the mission of the Society of Jesus. The Catechism was composed by Father Marcos Jorge. Published for the first time in 1561, the first book printed by the Company in Portugal, it became one of the most important means of education, not only in relation to the evangelization of the people of the Jesuit missions, but also as a means of teaching reading. and writing. It was later added by Father Inácio Martins. This edition has the original text of the Catechism in the version added by Inácio Martins, along with its translation into Congolese. According to Inocêncio, there are two versions of this first edition, one dedicated to the King of Congo and the other to D. Miguel de Castro, Archbishop of Lisbon. Very rare.
