FIRST edition of these statutes of one of the most important Portuguese Military Orders, illustrated with four prints printed in red of the various crosses worn by novices and professed on robes and capes. Before the Statutes themselves, the work includes several documents constituting and organizing the Order. In the first part of the Statutes there are chapters on the formation of the Order, the Masters and the Convent of Tomar as head of the Order. Treasured and rare.
