FIRST EDITION, VERY RARE AND VALUABLE of a very important work, with beautiful illuminated capitals of the time. The «Supplementum» is a type of general history that proposes to bring together in a single book the news that was at the time considered worthy of being transmitted to posterity, spread across several texts, narrating the events in chronological order. In its first edition, the work consisted of fifteen chapters, with a 16th chapter being added in the 1503 edition. One of the most important aspects of this work are the vast sources used by Foresti, which he indicates in the text itself. Among the most important are Boccacio's «Genealogia Deorum Libri», especially the part relating to the history of the gods; the “Vitae pontificum” of Platina or the “Chronicon” of Saint Antoninus. Some academics also refer to the influence of Dante. The «Supplementum Chronicarum» was first published in this edition of 1483, but several other editions followed due to its success. Some of these editions are from 1485, in 1486 the first illustrated edition, followed by those from 1490 and 1492, all from Venice, and in 1493 in Nuremberg. In 1503 a new edition was published, revised and added by the author, followed by others throughout the 16th century. The first translation appeared in the year of the first in Italian. Born in Solto Colina in 1434, Jacopo Filipo entered the Convent of Saint Augustine in Bergamo, becoming a hermit monk. Interested in history, he composed this chronicle organized by years of the most important events.
