WRESTLING POSTER 1920s
Poster promoting the wrestling match between Earl Wampler and Billy Evans on Friday, March 9th, at the Legion Hall in Victor, Iowa. The poster also lists two other wrestling matches and a boxing match. Wampler is called the 'Scranton 'Rabbit Puncher'. Wampler (1895-1984), moved to Iowa from Pennsylvania at 15 years old and soon started professionally wrestling and later became a mentor to Lou Thesz before he retired in 1952. Not dated, likely 1920s, 22 x 28 inches. Two 2-inch tears, four 1-inch tears, other minor tears, and loss at bottom margin.
