Blue and White in Color Visual Images of Zionism, 1897-1947 Rachel Arbel Beit Hatfutsot - the Museum of the Jewish People, 1997
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Zionist Congress in 1996, Beit Hatfutsot hosted an exhibition “Blue and White in Color” commemorating Zionist memorabilia. Exhibition catalog published by Beit Hatfutsot in 1997.
The Zionist movement skillfully utilized visual images to enhance the power of its message, as the custom has long been for spreading messages across the boundaries of language and culture. Through these illustrations, Jewish people everywhere could separate themselves from the culture they belonged to and imagine themselves as part of a new national culture. These icons reached many Jewish homes and became entrenched in Zionist culture.
