Andrea Pirlo (Flero, 19 May 1979) is an Italian football coach and former footballer.

With the Italian national team he became world champion in 2006 and vice-champion of Europe in 2012. Nicknamed the Maestro and the Metronome, he distinguished himself from a young age as one of the greatest talents expressed by Italian football. He is considered one of the greatest midfielders of all time as well as one of the strongest playmakers in the history of football.

Four times among the three best directors of the year according to the IFFHS (between 2006 and 2015), on as many occasions he was included among the 23 candidates for the Ballon d'Or, ranking ninth in 2006, fifth in 2007, seventh in 2012 and tenth in 2013.
