CYCLING - MIGUEL INDURAIN SIGNED PINK JERSEY
Miguel Indurain Larraya (Villava, 16 July 1964) is a former Spanish road cyclist. Nicknamed Miguelón, [3][4][5] he was a professional from 1984 to 1996.[6] He had the characteristics of a rouleur-climber, was a skilled downhill racer and a very strong time trialist, [7] and for his overwhelming power in time trials and his ability to manage the race in the mountains very well he was often compared to the French champion Jacques Anquetil.[7][8][9] His palmarès includes five consecutive Tour de France victories from 1991 to 1995 – the only one to do so, since Lance Armstrong's seven consecutive titles were revoked – and two Giro d'Italias in tandem with the Tour, in 1992 and 1993, in addition to the world time trial champion title obtained in 1995 and the Olympic gold medal, in the same specialty, at the Atlanta Games in 1996.[4]
His younger brother Prudencio Indurain, born in 1968, was also a professional from 1991 to 1999, helping him as a domestique for six years, from 1991 to 1996.
