Marco Simoncelli (Cattolica, January 20, 1987 – Sepang, October 23, 2011) was an Italian motorcycle racer, world champion of the 250 class in 2008. Known among fans with the nickname of Sic or SuperSic, he died at the age of 24 during a racing accident in the Malaysian Grand Prix. In 2014 he was inducted into the Motorcycling Hall of Fame, receiving the posthumous recognition of MotoGP Legend; furthermore, in 2016 it was decided to retire his racing number, 58.
